Toronto (Ontario), February 16, 2019 – Live from the Canadian International AutoShow at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, CTCC presented by Pirelli launched its 2019 season with the announcement of the new racing schedule and the introduction of a TCR class.
“I am so proud to be launching this new season, our thirteenth racing season in fact,” shares John Bondar, President and founder of CTCC. “Every year, I am honoured with Pirelli’s partnership and thankful for our success here in Canada. We have incredibly good racers, some of the finest, and our series is the place to showcase them. I am very proud to introduce the TCR class this season. The drivers within this class will enjoy competing in this spec category. I have a great team working with me and we strive to make CTCC the reference in Canadian motorsport.”
Again this year, CTCC has a six-event calendar and will compete at some of the most challenging tracks in Canada with the traditional two-race format for a total of twelve championship races. CTCC has a new class structure comprised of four classes:
TC: the entry-level category that allows beginners an affordable solution to step up their racing game. In this class, only a few modifications are allowed.
TCR: is our new spec category of only TCR models of all participating manufacturers. No modifications are allowed in order to comply with TCR regulations.
GT Sport: is a category for sports cars with advanced suspension and aerodynamics.
GT Cup: is a category for ultra performance sports cars.
Loyal to its tradition, CTCC will start the season at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in May with the first double-header of the summer during the Castrol Victoria Day SpeedFest. Then, off to Calabogie Motorsports Park in June and Shannonville Motorsport Park at the end of June. With only one event to its calendar in July, CTCC will be attending Circuit ICAR for a one-day event. In August, CTCC returns to the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières for its annual Friday night feature race and a day race on Saturday.
A few weeks later, CTCC will reconvene for the Chevrolet Silverado 250 for another double-header at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and our grand finale.
To launch our season and meet with fans, CTCC is participating at the Canadian International AutoShow at the Metro Toronto Convention Center from February 15 – 24. Championship cars will be on display in our booth and in participating manufacturer’s booth as well. Spot at least 3 of those CTCC racecars and get a chance to win a pair of tickets to our first event at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park during the Castrol Victoria Day SpeedFest.
